only got to day 4 before i decided to stop playing, but here's some feedback:
+ Love the pixel art style. Pixel Frog did some really good work on this!
+ Music is nice and chill
+ Basic gameplay loop is pretty fun, i always enjoy a bit of resource gathering, base building, and then defense
+ The ability to swap between characters that exist within your village is awesome, gives a lot of freedom and makes each new villager feel like an extra life
+ Despite the incredible simplicity, i think just having to pick up a ton of items without a lot of control over them works pretty well here, although this could get unwieldly if more items get added
~ Combat is alright, it feels a little bit janky but it is functional and does what it needs to. Playing as the knight feels a bit better, as it's meant to i guess, maybe some slight movement should occur while attacking?
- Pixel art is scaled differently all over the place, this makes it feel a bit inconsistent
- Needs some more guidance on things like being able to mine stone from mines, i had to read the comments here to figure that one out
- The island should be bigger! I think a large area to explore could give a cool way to allow players to forage and let you add more goblin outposts, as well as requiring players to make big choices about where they will explore and for how long
- Default control scheme is a little weird for keyboard, personally i would do something more like WASD, E to pickup, Q to drop, and then maybe ZXC or 123 for axe, hammer, and blueprints
Overall though, this is pretty solid! I think it could use some work, but it still feels quite polished and is a neat little experience, even if it is left as-is without any updates.
Thanks for your detailed feedback, this means a lot to me! I am very happy that you generally seemed to enjoy the game. I also agree with pretty much all of your criticisms.
Adding some movement to the attacks is a great idea, I believe this could improve the game feel a lot (although this might be annoying when chopping trees, so maybe just the knight should have this).
Of course many more aspects of the game could be improved (as it is always the case). I would have loved to add button remapping and create a bigger island, but ultimately these things would have taken a lot of time and my focus towards the end was on actually finishing and publishing the game in a reasonable timeframe.
But this was certainly not my last game and I will definitely use my gained experience and all of the great feedback in my future projects!
Thanks a lot! I currently don‘t have a way to test the game on linux (or mac), so I‘m not sure if there will be a version for these platforms anytime soon unfortunately.
Yes I have heard a few people complain about some weird camera shake happening sometimes, I am unfortunately not sure what this is caused by. I‘ll try to fix it, but the issue is hard to replicate.
The game is an absolute delight. Enjoyed it and controls well. Simplistic and easy to learn. I WAS at first worried about the scaling difficulty, as on night 1 I only had pawns and they died fast and was worried the later nights I would stand no chance, but as you unlock knights, archers and more it scales better. Loved it and had honestly wanted to record more had i not hit the 20 and more minute mark xD (soon going to play with editing software to allow for more recording time haha) but keep up the AMAZING work and left a follow!!!
(for some reason YouTube (at least on my end) is refusing to connect so here is a link to the vid xD)
Huge thanks for your incredibly kind words! I just watched your video and it was so special for me as a small developer to actually see you play my game and have a good time. It also helped me a lot with understanding which aspects work well and which aspects might be confusing and need some explaining.
Thank you so much for making your video and for showcasing small indie games in general! You have no idea how much this means to me (and I assume to many other indie developers)! :)
Not a problem :) its what I do or at least am trying to do. Hope to grow bigger so i can make more of an impact one day :D may even make a discord at some point dedicated to small developers and youtubers etc. Not sure yet all big plans just have to get there first xD
You definitely have my support! I have shared your channel to a few friends and I‘m sure you can grow quickly, your quality is already very high. But even as a small channel you can have a big impact on the people you reach, so please continue, what you‘re doing!
Game is gorgeous and I love the mix of mechanics. The combat system is really rough though.. Why can you only attack from the side? Same for axing trees.. its so fiddly trying to line yourself up pixel-perfectly with the target. The controls are also unnecessarily complex: interact, pick up and drop could all be on the same key, they are contextual.
Thanks a lot for your feedback, I greatly appreciate it!
I agree that the Pawn should probably be able to use his tools in all directions, like the Knight and Archer (which can attack in 4 and 8 directions respectively). This was partly done to discourage fighting as a Pawn, as it is not their main use, whereas the Knight and the Archer are specialized - and should feel a lot better - in combat.
As for controls, interact and pick up already use the same key, just dropping resources uses a different one. This is mainly for the situation, where you would carry some resources and are near some other resources on the ground. In this situation you have both the option of picking up the additional resources or dropping the ones you are carrying.
But I can definitely see your point about the controls being a bit too complex for such a simple game.
Thank you for your comment! You can get stones from the different mines by going inside and using your hammer a couple of times, similar to chopping down trees. Gold mainly drops from defeating enemies.

I like this game art!
Thank you! The pixel art is made by Pixel Frog, you can find a link to it in the credits section of the page. :)
I BEAT THE GAME:D
Congratulations! And thanks a lot for playing! :)
Game is gorgeous, are there future plans for a linux version?
Thanks a lot! I currently don‘t have a way to test the game on linux (or mac), so I‘m not sure if there will be a version for these platforms anytime soon unfortunately.
how do i mine stone
You need to go inside a mine and use your hammer. :)
thx:)
my only complaint is that the camera goes back and forth from side to side

I left the map :P
Omg how did you do that? I really thought this would be impossible. :D

Hey there, this is a fantastic game with a lot of potential! Do you have an email for business inquiries?
Thanks for your kind words! You can contact me at ulbogames@gmail.com
great game but I can't figure out how to get gold and stone
